A very good effort from the goons saw a deflated Cinque Ports team being given a lesson at rugby.

A great result from a goons team whom haven’t had a fixture for over 2 months .

Great displays from all including a hand off resulting in a Cinque Ports player being knocked out and no fewer than seven tries.

Try scorers were , Joe (three) , Johnny (one) , Moose (one) , Adam (one) , Rich (one)

GOONS versus HEATHFIELD 3′S

Posted on 13 Dec 2008 | Tagged as: Senior Results 2007-08

A very cold and crisp morning and the goons are off to Heathfield for an early midday kick off.

Ozzy BEN makes his last appearance before he heads off home .

Having never previously played rugby union before (despite being Australian) he has been rather impressive on the wing.

Thanks for your support Ben and hopefully we will see you soon.

RESULT to follow.

Last week saw us go down 7-0 to Ashford 4’s in the dying moments of the game.

Sneakily their try scorer had just come on for them after he finished playing for the seconds on an adjacent field.

A well rounded display from most of the team.

Man of the match went to  young Alex  who continues to impress in all facets of the game.

An Emphatic Goons Team having just beaten Cinque Ports 29-12

New Season

Posted on 06 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: News

Well another new season is upon us and looks to be the most exciting one for a long time.
The First XV won promotion to Sussex 1 in May and start there campaign at home to Pulborough on Saturday 13th September, the whole club wishes them huge success for the season ahead.
The Goons XV play their first match on 6th September away at Deal and we wish them good luck as well. They continue to provide the club with a vital resource to develop new talent, bring on players emerging from the youth ranks and give us the strength in depth we have lacked for so long. On top of that they have a social life the envy of the whole club, so keep on doing what you do lads.
The youth teams have a wealth of emerging talent with one county U17 player, 7 lads trialling this month for the U15 & U16 county teams and 5 lads having made it into the county U13 & 14 development squads.
Our Colts XV start their campaign this year in the ‘A’ League and have their first match at home to Horsham on 14th September. They are also playing in the County U17 and U18 cup competitions.
Our other youth teams (U14, U15 & U16) all play their first matches in September with some tough fixtures in their respective leagues.
The minis are teaming up with Hellingly again this year, to give all our youngsters playing opportunities. Both clubs hope that it won’t be to long before they can both go their seperate ways. So get recruiting for our minis and help them grow quickly to the numbers they need to have a team in each age group.
Last but by no means least we come to our biggest, best and most attractive success story to date, our women and girls teams!
We are fielding two girls teams in the U15 and U18 age groups and are busy organising a number of fixtures and festivals for them to compete in. Their first matches will be in early October. Nine of our girls attended the County Development Camp at Ardingly School in August and impressed the County coaches with their skill, commtment and maturity. Ten of the girls are also attending the county trials on 7th September at Horsham and we wish them all the greatest success on the day.
Our women have been training all summer and should be playing their first match very soon. They do however need some more players so again lets really help them by encouraging more women to take part and start training.
So with our new clubhouse and pitches looking great after all the work that has been done  this summer and great facilities it’s given us, let’s all have a fantastic winning season.
